Burial In The Woods are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Church Of Dagon" which will be released on June 29th by Rain Without End Records.
Field recordings start off the album along with some horror movie style keyboards a few seconds later. All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the slow yet heavy riffing is very heavily rooted in funeral doom metal and the guitar solos and leads are done in a very dark and melodic style.
Grim black metal screams are also used quite a bit throughout the recording while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. Acoustic guitars are also added into some parts of the music along with one track also introducing ritualistic chants and melodic vocals onto the recording, all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and all of the music sticks to a slower direction.
Burial In The Woods plays a musical style that takes black and atmospheric doom metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Lovecraftian Occult themes as well as the last song being written in Turkish.
In my opinion Burial In The Woods are a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Forbidden Pages" and "Growing Shadows". 8 out of 10.
