Head Of The Demon are a band from Sweden that plays a mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Deadly Black Doom" which will be released in April as a joint effort between Invictus Productions and The Ajna Offensive.
A very dark sound starts off the album along with some clean playing while all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them. All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the vocals are done in mostly a first wave black metal style showing an influence of Celtic Frost and Hellhammer.
Melodic chants and singing are also used briefly on a couple of songs while the slower sections of the music are also very heavily rooted in doom metal. When guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody, atmospheric yet ritualistic soundscapes, flutes and synths can also be heard briefly before returning back to a heavier direction,
All of the music also sticks to a slower style and one track also introduces death metal growls and grim black metal screams onto the recording along with the music taking 80's and 90's influences and giving them a more modern atmosphere and on the closing track clean playing is also added onto the recording. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover satanism, occultism and paganism themes.
In my opinion Head Of The Demon are a very great sounding mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dawn Walker" and "St. Cyprian". 8 out of 10.
