Wazzara are a band from Switzerland that plays a mixture of blackgaze, doom and post metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 album "Cycles" which will be released on Halloween.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while the slower sections of the songs also add in elements of doom metal. When clean playing is utilized it also adds in touches of shoegaze along with the vocals being done mostly a clean style and the music also has its atmospheric and psychedelic moments.
A lot of the music is heavily rooted in a post metal style while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Synths are also added on some of the tracks along with some black metal screams also being added into certain sections of the album as well as some blast beats and tremolo picking also being utilized when the music finally speeds up.
When guitar solos and leads are added into the music they are done in a very melodic style and the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the natural poetry in water with some touches of occultism.
In my opinion Wazzara are a very great sounding mixture of blackgaze, doom and post metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Maenic" and "Antares" and "Ancestral Bonds". 8 out of 10.
