Incessant are a band from Ireland that plays a very atmospheric and blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Entropic Aeons" which was released by Repose Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams and shouts are also utilized at times.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the clean sections also add in some progressive touches. The music also has its atmospheric and psychedelic moments along with one song also introducing clear chants onto the ep as well as some of the tracks also showing an influence of post rock.
Incessant plays a style of blackened death metal that is very atmospheric and progressive sounding as well as mixing in influences of other musical genres to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover existentialism, cosmic reflection and the enigmatic origins of humanity.
In my opinion Incessant are a very great sounding atmospheric blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Upon The Cosmic Pyre" and "Entropy of Archons". 8 out of 10.
