War Atrocities are a solo project from Croatia that plays a mixture of black, thrash, speed metal and d beat and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Necromantical Legions" which was released by Fuck The Mainstream - Witches Brew Records.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the ep and after a minute the music starts getting more distorted and after the intro the music starts going for more of a blackened thrash metal direction along with some grim screams a few seconds later and the faster sections also utilize a great amount of d and blast beats.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a first wave black metal tradition and the songs also bring in a great mixture of both mid paced and fast parts as well as being perfectly balanced between both the first and second wave styles of black metal and the ep closes with a cover of Bathory's "Armageddon".
War Atrocities plays a musical style that takes the first and second wave styles of black metal and mixes it in with elements of thrash, speed metal and d beat to create some very true old school metal, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover War, Blasphemy and Evil themes.
In my opinion War Atrocities are a very great sounding mixture of black, thrash, speed metal and d beat and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Destruktor of Eternal" and "Ripper Lust". 8 out of 10.
