Spectrum Mortis are a band from Spain that plays a ritualistic mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Kadosh" which was released by black Seed Productions.
Gregorian chants start off the ep along with some ritualistic sounding synths a few seconds later while the spoken word parts are mostly invocations along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the slower sections of the songs add in elements of funeral doom metal.
A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length while t he solos and leads are done in a very melodic style along with the riffs also bringing in a great amount of dark sounding melodies as well as the vocals being a mixture of death metal growls, black metal screams and angry shouts and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard and clean vocals are added onto the closing track.
Spectrum Mortis plays a musical style that takes black, death and funeral doom metal and mixes them together to create a ritualistic sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Necromancy, Satanism, Death and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Spectrum Mortis are a very great sounding ritualistic mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Kadosh" and "Christus Mysticus (Hymn To The Messenger of The Gods)". 8/5 out of 10.
