The Wandering Ascetic are a band from Singapore that plays a mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their album "Crimson" which will be released in 2019 by Transcending Obscurity Asia.
A very heavy thrash influenced sound starts off the album while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals also adding in a great amount of grim black metal screams as well as the riffs also utilizing a decent amount of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain very true to an old school style while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a decent amount of blast beats along with the songs also adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some clean playing also being added into certain sections of the recording, a couple of tracks also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts and melodic chants.
The Wandering Ascetic plays a musical style that takes black and thrash metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion The Wandering Ascetic are a very great sounding mixture of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eva Braun" "The Gods Bleed" "Here For The Good Things" and "Orang Laut". 8 out of 10.
