In Mourning are band from Sweden that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of goth/doom metal, progressive death metal and black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Afterglow" which was released by Agonia Records.
Nature sounds start off the album along with some heavy riffs and melodic guitar leads being introduced into the music a few seconds later and after awhile black metal screams make their presence known on the recording along with a great amount of death metal growls and you can also hear a great amount of prog metal elements in the songs.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some songs also bring in clean playing and melodic vocals which also adds a touch of goth metal onto the recording while the slower riffs are very heavily influenced by doom metal and all of the songs stick mostly a slow or mid paced musical direction while there is also a brief use of fast playing and blast beats.
In Mourning creates another recording t hat is mostly rooted in progressive doom/death metal while also having some goth and black metal elements as well as a great amount of melody in their musical style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover thoughts, feelings, dreams, memories and oceans.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from In Mourning and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fire And Ocean" "Below Arise To Above" and "Afterglow". 8 out of 10.
