Frozen Empire are a band from Russia that plays an avant garde form of blackened death metal with some djent and mathcore inclusions and this is a review of their 2017 album "Deviant" which was released by Hymns Of Apocalypse.
Cries and ambient soundscapes start off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a darker, heavier and melodic direction and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile death metal growls start to make there presence known.
Elements of djent and matcore can be heard in t he bands musical style and when clean singing is utilized it gives the songs more of an avant garde edge and the riffing is also very heavily influenced by black metal and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length while screams are also used at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and when clean playing is utilized at gives the songs more of an experimental edge.
Frozen Empire plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in black and death metal while the avant garde, mathcore, and djent elements gives the songs a lot more originality, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Russian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Frozen Empire are a very great sounding avant garde blackened death metal band with elements of djent and mathcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Verdict" "Deviant" and "Laudanum". 8 out of 10.
