Ever Circling Wolves are a band from Finland that plays a mixture of black, doom, and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Of Woe On How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Gloom" which was released by Cimmerian Shade Recordings.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album and they also mix in wit the more distorted side of the music at times along with a brief use of noise elements and after the intro the music goes into a heavier direction while clean playing along with avant garde and progressive influences can also be heard at times.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the vocals bring in death metal growls along with some black metal screams and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be hear.
The slow riffs are very heavily influenced by doom metal and acoustic guitars are also used on some of the other tracks and clean singing can also be heard as the album progresses as well as a brief use of spoken word parts and a couple of the tracks are all instrumental and psychedelic elements are also utilized briefly.
Ever Circling Wolves plays a musical style that takes progressive, black, doom and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover solitude and pessimism themes.
In my opinion Ever Circling Wolves are a very great sounding progressive mixture of black, doom, and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Haunted" "Deeper" and "These Are Ashes, these Our Roots". 8 out of 10.
