Ecnephias are a band from Italy that h as had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of black, doom, death and goth metal and this I a review of their 2017 album "The Sad Wind Of The Sun" which will be released in July by My Kingdom Music.
A darkwave influenced sound starts off the album along with some programmed beats and clean guitars which also leads up to a more heavy and symphonic style that also introduces death metal growls onto the recording while goth style vocals are also added into the music at times.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and the riffs also use a great amount of melody as well as mixing in elements of decadent rock and doom metal and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and touches of industrial are also used briefly along with the tracks sticking to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and one track also adds in a few seconds of black metal screams.
On this recording Ecnephias moves away from a blackened style and focuses more on a goth/doom metal style that h as the heaviness s of death metal while also focusing more o darkwave elements, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Paganism, Poetry, Darkness, Medieval Witchcraft and Underground Life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ecnephias and if you are a fan of goth, doom, death metal and dark wave, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Poveo De Santo" "Nouvelle Orleans" Quimbanda" and "You". 8 out of 10.
