Thine Inner Sanctum are a duo from Scotland that plays a blackened form of doom metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Dark Sky Weeping" which was released by Ancient Entity Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a slower and heavier doom metal direction and keyboards are also mixed in with the heavy parts. Clean male and female vocals are also utilized at times while the music also adds in a great amount of 90's influences along with a great amount of death metal growls and black metal screams.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Clean playing is also added into some parts of the music along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dark and melodic style when they are utilized as well as the music also adding in some more modern influences aat times.
Spoken word parts and whispers are also added on a couple of the tracks along with the music also having its atmospheric moments. Choirs can also be heard briefly as well as one of the songs also being an instrumental and as the album progresses a brief use of fast playing and blast beats can also be heard. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover bleak and hopelessness themes.
In my opinion Thine Inner Sanctum are a very great sounding atmospheric blackened doom metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Abyss OF Thine" "Dark Sky Weeping" and "A Mirrored Abyss". 8 out of 10.
