Chimera are a band from Poland that plays a blackened form of heavy metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 album "Gloria Mortis" which will be released on February 20th.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album along with a brief use of spoken word parts before adding in a brief use of clean playing that also takes the music into a heavier direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams and death metal growls .
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. Clean playing also returns on some of the later tracks along with the music also mixing in elements from modern metal and the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Chimera plays a musical style that takes black, death and modern metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while t he lyrics cover Laveyan Satanism, Occultism and Humanism themes.
In my opinion Chimera are a very great sounding blackened heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dunkelheit" "Asmodeus" and "Among Wolves". 8 out of 10.
