Choir are a solo project originally from Singapore but now resides in Brazil and plays a mixture of black and doom metal with some elements of dark ambient and this is a review of his album "Songs For A Tarnished World" which will b e released in 2023 by Total Dissonance Worship.
Distorted soundscapes start off the album while tortured voices can also be heard briefly before going into more of a darker and heavier musical direction. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some elements of doom metal also being added into the slower sections of the songs.
Vocals are mostly guttural sounding death metal growls while black metal screams can also be heard at times. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing.
Throughout the recording you can also h ear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads ar e introduced onto the recording they are also done in a very dark and dissonant style and the soundscapes also bring in elements of dark ambient. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover the horrors of t he realm of reality.
In my opinion Choir are a very great sounding mixture of black and doom metal with elements of dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out5 this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drawn To An Early grave" "Wall For The Evocation Of Mire" and "Caravan And Swarm". 8 out of 10.
