Torturers' Lobby are a band from Tampa, Florida that plays a mixture of black, death, thrash metal and punk and this is a review of their 2024 album "Deadened Nerves" which will be released on June 14th as a joint effort between Caligari Records and Ixiol Productions.
Synths and acoustic guitars start off the album before going into a heavier direction which also mixes thrash and traditional metal together. Vocals are a mixture of black metal s creams and death metal growls while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats, melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 80's and 90's era while being modern at the same time. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads bringing in more of an old school extreme metal style.
At times the music also captures the raw energy of punk rock as well as some of the vocals also going for more of a thrash metal approach and tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing, clean playing can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the darker side of humanity.
In my opinion Torturers' Lobby are a very great sounding mixture of black, death, thrash metal and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Barbaric Alchemy" "Humanity's Husk" and "Reptilian Hide". 8 out of 10.
