Ulterror are a band from Finland that plays a very technical and blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Transcendent Origins" which was released by Inverse Records.
A very dark sounding synth orientated intro starts off the album before going into more of a brutal and technical direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and all of the instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the songs also add in a good balance between slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very technical yet melodic style and the music is also very heavily rooted in the modern era, clean playing can also be heard briefly.
Ulterror plays a style of blackened death metal that is very brutal and technical sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon a distant and fictitious future of mankind.
In my opinion Ulterror are a very great sounding technical blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording.
