Earth Rot are a band from Australia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Renascentia".
Death metal growls and heavy guitar riffs start off the album along with some black metal screams and brutal blast beats a few seconds alter while the solos and leads are done in a very dark and melodic fashion and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
Throughout the album you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and the music also brings in a perfect balance between both old school and modern influences and some of the fast riffs also bring in a decent amount of tremolo picking and there is also a brief use of soundscapes along with a later track using acoustic guitars, saxophones and clean singing before returning back to a more heavy and brutal direction and a later track also adds in a touch of oriental folk music.
Earth Rot creates another recording that remains true to the blackened death metal style that was established on previous releases, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Earth Rot and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Ancient Fire" "Panoptic Terror" "Funeral pyre" and "Unfurled, The Cover Of Darkness". 8 out of 10.
