Khthoniik Cerviiks are a band from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays an avant garde form of blackened death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Æequiizoiikum" which was released by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album while Gregorian chants can also be heard briefly along with some avant garde and experimental elements also being utilized at times. During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of blast beats and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while the music also has its brutal moments. Tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing along with the riffs also adding in some melodies at times as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some songs also adding in some back up shouts as well as the songs also adding in seem progressive and dissonant structures. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover apocalypse, devolution, decline and occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Khthoniik Cerviks and if you are a fan of avant garde blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Odyssey 3000" "Para-Dog-Son-Demagorgon" and "Bloodless Epiphany Delire des N". 8 out of 10.
