Wills Dissolve are a band from Houston, Texas that has been featured before in this zine and plays a progressive mixture of black, doom, death and post metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Echoes" which will be released in August by Hypnotic Dirge Records.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album along with the only track on this recording being over 30 minutes in length. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly while the clean playing also gives the music more of a progressive feeling when it is utilized and melodic vocals are also utilized at times.
Death metal growls are also a very heavy part of the recording while the slower sections of the song also bring in elements of doom metal.Black metal screams can also be heard at times along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic prog metal style as well as some acoustic guitars also being added into some parts of the track.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with some blast beats also being utilized when the music speeds up as well as the song also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, touches of post metal can also be heard in some parts of the recording. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon space exploration and technological development.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Wills Dissolve and if you are a fan of black, doom, death, progressive and post metal, you should check out this recording. 8 out of 10.
