Perdition Temple are a band from Florida that has been featured before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death emtal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Merciless Upheaval" which was released by Hells headbangers Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album before going into a faster death metal direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals are mostly blackened metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the mid 80's to early 90's era.
Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the solos and leads are also very heavily influenced by the classic Florida style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the other half of the album being Infernal majesty, Shub Niggurath, Morbid Angel and Pestilence covers and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Perdition Temple remain true to the blackened death metal style they have established on previous releases as well as paying homage to the bands that also have had a huge influence on them. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover evil, hell and genocide themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Perdition Temple and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Merciless Upheaval" "In Thrall of Malevolence" and ""Blood on my hands". 8 out of 10/.
