U.S.A's Vincent Crowley has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a mixture of black, doom, death and heavy metal and this is a review of his album "Anthology Of Horror" which will be released in 2024 by Hammerheart Records.
\
A synth orientated intro starts off the album bringing in the atmosphere of a classic horror movie soundtrack before going into a heavier doom metal direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilzied they bring in more of an 80's style while t he vocals are mostly death metal growls along with a few black metal screams.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. All of the musical instruments on the album also have a very powerful sound to them along with some blast beats also being utilized when the music speeds up.
One song also adds in a brief use of choirs along with some spoken word parts can also be being utilized briefly, most of the album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and the recording closes with a cover of King Diamond's "Killer". The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Horror and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Vincent Crowley and if you are a fan of black, doom, death and heavy metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Amityville's Horror" "Under The Hanging Tree" "Gods of Crimson Cullings" and "Madame Laveau (Voodoo Queen)". 8/5 out of 10.
