This is a review of another recording from Maur which shows them continuing their mixture of black, doom and death metal with the ep being self released in 2014 and called "Elegy".
Clean playing starts off the ep and it gives the music a proto metal feeling which leads up to some melodic guitar solos and leads and you can also hear some clean singing vocals being utilized in the background which leads up to a heavier doom metal direction along with some melodic riffing and black metal screams.
The first track is close to 15 minutes long which also gives the ep and epic feeling and the music sticks to mostly a slow to mid paced direction along with some old school death metal influences being added into the guitar riffing as well as the guitar leads being in a melodic direction and the bass guitars also have a very powerful presence in the music and they close the ep with a track that closer to 5 minutes in length and also brings in more atmospheric and ambient sounds as well as being all instrumental.
Maur remains true to their mixture of black, doom, and death metal as well as adding in a more 70's metal feeling and more ambience this time around, the production has a very dark, raw and heavy sound while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Maur and if you are a fan of black, doom and death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Elegy". 8 out of 10.
