Second To Sun are a band from Russia that plays an instrumental mixture of black metal, djent and Finno-Ugric folk music and this is a review of their self released 2015 album "The First Chapter".
Distorted noises start off the album along with soem ambient and atmospheric elements and after a few seconds the music starts getting heavier and also brings in elements of djent and progressive metal and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when the music speeds up blast beats can be heard.
In the faster sections of the music a great amount of black metal elements can be heard and the riffs also use a great amount of melody while the solos and leads also add in more of a dark and melodic style and in the softer sections the folk music parts really start to kick in and some of the riffs also bring in more of a modern thrash sound and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as mixing both the heavy and atmospheric sections together.
Second To Sun plays a musical style that takes black and progressive metal and mixes it with djent, ambient and Finno-Ugric music and avoids any lyrics or vocals to create a style of their own and the production also sounds very professional for being a self released recording.
In my opinion Second To Sun are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of black metal, djent and Finno-Ugric folk music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.
