Sepulchral Curse/Crimson Moon Evocations/Dark Descent Records/2025 Full Length Review

 

   Finland's  Sepulchral  Curse  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Crimson  Moon  Evocations"  which  will  be  released  on  February  28th  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  A  very  aggressive  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  being  very  modern  at  the  same  time.

  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Elements  of  black  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized,  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  some  high  pitched  screams  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  On  this  recording  Sepulchral  Curse  goes  for  a  very  dark,  heavy,  aggressive  and  brutal  style  of  blackened  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Mysticism,  Spirituality  and  Dark  Fantasy  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sepulchral  Curse  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Wildfires"  "Beneath  The  Dismal  Tides"  and  "Crimson  passage".  8  out  of  10.

  Finland's  Sepulchral  Curse  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  blackened  death  metal  style  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  ep  "Deathbed  Sessions"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Personal  Records,  Lycanthropic  Chants  and  Transylvanian  Recordings.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  some  black  metal s creams  also  being  utilized  at  times. 

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  angry  shouts,  the  songs  also  add  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and f ast  parts  and  the  ep  closes  with  a  cover  of  Demigod's  "Towards  the  Shrouded  Infinity".

Sepulchral Curse/At The Onset Of Extinction/Transcending Obscurity Records/2016 EP Review

  Sepulchral  Curse  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  originally  started  out  as  an  old  school  style  death  metal  band  but  have  evolved  into  a  more  blackened  death  metal  style  with  their  newer  release  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "At The  Onset  Of  Extinction"  which  will  be  released  in December  by  Transcending  Obscurity  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  vocals  being  very  guttural  death  metal  growls  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  and  the  guitar  leads a re  also  very  dark  and  melodic.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  in  certain sections  of  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to a   very  heavy  musical   direction  and  the  last  track is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  adds  in a   touch of  doom  metal.

  Sepulchral  Curse  creates  a recording  that  takes  their  old  school  death  metal  roots  and  mixes  it  in  with  more  black  metal  influences  to  take  their  music  to  a  different  level,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  war  and  occultism  themes.

 In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sepulchral  Curse  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Envisioned  In  Scars"  and  "Gospel  Of  Bones".  8 out  of  10.
