Warfather are a band from Ohio that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Orchestrating The Apocalypse" which will be released by Greyhaze Records.
"XII" which is also the first song on the album opens up with fast, heavy and brutal guitar riffs as well as some blast beats before adding in deep death metal growls as well as alternating between mid paced and fast parts and adding in guitar solos and leads that come in and out of the music.
"Legions" begins with fast, heavy and brutal guitar riffs as well as some blast beats form the drums before adding in growls as well as alternating between slow and fast parts and after a minute guitar solos and leads are added into the music.
"My Queen Shall Not Be Moaned" opens up with heavy guitar riffs and drums as well as some melody being thrown into the riffing and then the music speeds up along with some blast beats and growls and then the music slows down and adds in female vocals and melodic guitar leads as well as alternating between slow and fast parts.
"Taunting the Deity" which is also a very short intro begins with drum beats and synths as well as female vocals and growls and is under a minute.
"The Shifting Poles" starts up with slow and heavy guitar riffs before adding in blast beats from the drums as well as going into a faster direction with growls and then the music alternates between slow and fast parts along with a small amount of female vocals and screams.
"Waltz Of the Solstice" kicks in with female choirs before adding in fast and heavy guitar riffs along with some drums as well as bringing in growls and melody and the music also mixes mid paced and fast parts and as time goes on by guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the music.
"Summoning The Warfathers" which is also another intro starts with dark sounding synths and guitars and is under a minute with some death metal growls.
"Ageless Merciless" comes in with heavy and melodic sounding guitar riffs along with drums and growls as well as mixing in a mixture of fast and slow parts and towards the end there is a brief use of blast beats and screams.
"The Chaos Of" another short intro kicks in with drums and guitar riffs that also use effects as well as some female vocals.
"Gods And Machines" breaks in with heavy guitar riffs and drums along with some technical elements before speeding up and adding in blast beats as well as some growls and then the music starts to alternate between slow and fast parts and after awhile guitar leads are added into the music and towards the end chanting and a few seconds of female vocals are added in.
"Ashes And Runes" hits it off with heavy guitar riffs and drums which evolve into blast beats as well as introducing the growls and a few seconds alter guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the music.
"We Are The Wolves" which is also the last song on the album comes in with heavy guitar riffs and drums before adding in growls as well as going into a fast direction and adding in blast beats before alternating between mid paced and fast parts and adding in screams.
Song lyrics cover occult and philosophical themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound while the bass guitars are mixed down low in the mix.
In my opinion Warfather are a very great sounding blackened death metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "XII" "The Shifting Poles" "Ashes And Runes" and "We Are The Wolves". RECOMMENDED BUY.
