Goat War Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Goat War is true black heavy metal for the basement warriors that have yet to rise and slay the plastic idols that have taken over!

2.So far you have released a demo, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

This demo is the sound of the pure raw violence that is experienced when the mighty sword and scythe of Julius Bloodaxe and Dick Nekrowulf clash in a storm of fury! No fun no production no talent just war!

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

We use symbolism inspired by the great authors of sword and sorcery to invigorate those brought down!

4,What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Goat War'?

When Dick watched the goat die it fueled his thirst for war!

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We play in a basement!

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

We go where the hammer guides us. War knows no borders!

7.The demo is getting re-issued on 'Heathen Tribes', can you tell us a little bit more about the newer version?

It's on tape.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and speed metal?

We're popular in Europe!

9.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

As the hatred builds we add intricate concepts to our guitars. Expect more death, war, and chaos soon. Early 2018 brother!

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Boston, Thor, Semen Of Satan, Sabbat, Darkthrone, Midnight, Wodos, Mercyful Fate, 1983 Slayer, Nifelheim, Di'anno Maiden, Motörhead, G.I.S.M., Slambo, Necro Butcher from Mayhem!

Goat War/Warwolf/Heathen Tribes/2017 EP Review

Goat  War  are  a  band  from  Michigan  that  plays  a mixture  of black  and  speed  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "Warwolf"  which  will  be  released  in  the  autumn  by  Heathen  Tribes.

A  very  fast  and  old  school  black  metal  style  starts  off t he  ep  which  also  mixes  the  first  and  second  wave  styles  together  while  the  vocals  also  mix  the  early  era  with  an  angry  thrash  approach  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  speed  metal  and  the  solos  and  leads  continue  the  old  school  tradition.

While  the  music  is  heavily  influenced  by  the  80's  it  still  sounds  very  modern  at  the  same  time  and  at  times  the  vocals  have  a  semi  melodic  edge  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  grim  screams a re  also  used  briefly,  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  heavy  direction.

Goat  War  plays  a  musical  style  that  mixes  first  and  second  wave  black  metal  with  speed  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Fantasy  themes.

In  my  opinion  Goat  War  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  speed  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Goathammer"  and  "Black  Grave".  8  out  of  10.
