Towering are a band from France that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Obscuring Manifestation" which will be released in May by Dolorem Records.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of brutal blast beats can be heard while the vocals also bring in a good mixture of both black metal screams and death metal growls. The songs also bring in a great combination of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of both old school and modern influences while the music is heavily influenced by both the Polish and French style of black and death metal, ritualistic sounds also make a brief return as the album progresses. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Towering are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Poison Of Man" and "One With The Black Earth". 8 out of 10.
