Ireland's Vircolac have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Vereration" which was released by Dark Descent Records.
Female vocals start off the album along with a brief use of stringed instruments before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Most of the music is very heavily rooted in death metal while tremolo picking is also added into some of the faster riffing. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody, a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
One song also introduces clean playing onto the album and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic yet aggressive style as well as the music also adding in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover deathly topics from ancient cultural lore. .
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Vircolac and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Veneration" "All Comes To Pass, Nothing Shall Remain" and "Reflection". 8 out of 10.
