Gravecrawler are a band from Sweden that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2023 compilation album "Anthology: The Horrors Unleashed ' which will be released in 2023 by Grind To Death Records.
A very dark, heavy and brutal sound starts off the compilation while the vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and guttural death metal growls. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody.
Elements of slam are also added into the mid tempo sections of the songs while the faster sections of the tracks also add in a decent amount of blast beats. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word samples and all of the music also sticks to a heavier direction.
Gravecrawler plays a musical style that takes black metal and mixes it with brutal death metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, gore, myths and folklore themes.
In my opinion Gravecrawler are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Putrid Incarnation" "Beast Of The Abysmal Sea" "Binding of The Corpse God" and "Lair of The Blind Ones". 8 out of 10.
