Dead War are a band from Santa Cruz, California that plays a blackened mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 ep "The Triumph Of Death".
Thunder and rain sounds start off the ep along with some synths before going into a faster musical direction that utilizes blast beats and tremolo picking and after awhile death metal growls are added onto the recording and the songs also start bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are very distorted and melodic as well as being very chaotic at times while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and war samples can also be heard briefly while the riffs also start incorporating more thrash elements along with a small amount of morbid sounding melodies and there is also a brief use of classical guitars and while the music is heavily rooted in the old school style the brutality gives the songs more of a modern edge, later on a classical style instrumental is added onto the recording before closing the ep with 2 heavy tracks.
Dead War plays a musical style that takes black, death ad thrash metal and mixes them together to create a very heavy and aggressive sound, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover death and war themes.
In my opinion Dead War are a very great sounding blackened mixture of death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Debellation" and "The Triumph of Death". 8 out of 10.
