Sollertia are a band from Minnesota that plays a very progressive form of dark metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Light" which will be released in May by Apathia Records.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and they also mix in with the heavier side of the music which also utilizes a great amount of melodic guitar leads and after awhile clean singing vocals are added onto the recording and the songs also mix in a great amount of 90's goth/doom metal influences.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them along with some stringed instruments also being utilized at times and some of the tracks are long and epic in length and both clean and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some touches of post rock.
At times the music also gets very progressive at times and there is also a brief use of grim black metal whispers, and screams along with a few death metal growls and spoken word parts are also added onto a later track and the music also sticks to mostly a slow or mid paced musical direction while a later song brings in a small amount of female vocals and on the closing track the music speeds up a bit and also adds in a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats..
Sollertia plays a style of dark metal that is very progressive while also mixing in the heaviness of black, death and doom metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, melancholic and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Sollertia are a very great sounding progressive dark metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Abstract Object Theory" "The Devils Seethe" and "Light. 8 out of 10.
