Crawl Below are a solo project from Connecticut that plays a blackened mixture of doom and death metal on this recording and this is a review of his album "Its Ministers On Earth" which will be released in 2022 by Lawnmowerjetpack Records.
Water sounds start off the album before going into a heavier doom metal direction while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while melodic vocals also can be heard at times. Clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and the solos and leads also add in a great amount of melody.
A couple of brief ritualistic interludes can be heard before a couple of songs which also adds in some tribal style percussion as well as some of the faster riffing also adding in a small amount of tremolo picking, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover aquatic nightmare gods which are also inspired by the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion Crawl below are a very great sounding blackened mixture of doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Summoning Rite" and "And Deep In The Worm". 8 out of 10.
