Phantom Fire are a duo from Norway that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a blackened form of speed metal and this is a review of their 2023 album Eninente Lucifer Libertad" which will b e released in march by Edged Circle Productions.
A very heavy yet old school sound starts off the album along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later. You can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and the solos and leads bring in more of an old school 80's extreme metal style.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats, thrash and speed metal elements can also be heard. Spoken word parts are also utilized briefly while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some tremolo picking also being added into the faster riffing at times.
One song also adding in a brief use of synths and programmed beats before returning back to a heavier direction, when spoken word parts are utilized briefly they also give the music more of a ritualistic feeling and clear vocals are also added on the closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Phantom Fire and if you are a fan of blackened speed metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bloodshed" Ritual" and "Pentagram". 8 out of 10.
