Vaxatan are a solo project from Brazil that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Diabolic Empire".
A very dark sounding intro starts off the ep along with a brief use of synths before going into more of a heavy an brutal direction. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats and a small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of mid tempo and fast parts while the riffing also has its repetitive moments and all of the tracks also avoid the use of any solos and leads.
Vaxatan plays a musical style that takes black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Blasphemy, Anti Christianity, Horror, Chaos, Darkness and Death themes.
In my opinion Vaxatan are a very great sounding blackened death metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Diabolic Empire" and "Darkness". 8 out of 10.
