This is the final review of a recording from Columbia's Hellion which is also in the blackened thrash metal style and the album was released in 2019 by Awakening Records and is called "Rebel's Curse".
Ritualistic sounding synths and spoken word parts start off the album before going into a very fast thrash metal direction which also introduces blast beats onto the recording. Vocals are mostly first wave style black metal screams while the riffs also add in a small amount of melody at times.
All of the music is very heavily rooted in the 80's but with a more modern production while the solos and leads also remain very true to an old school style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them, one track also adds in a small amount of demonic growls and they close the album with a cover of Sacrifice's "Terror Strikes".
On this recording Hellion remains true to the 80's influenced blackened thrash metal sound of their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Witchcraft, Metal, Darkness and Violence themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hellion and if you are a fan of blackened thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Summoning The Satan's Crew" "Into The Circle Of Fire" "A Wizards Pledge" and "Congregation". 8 out of 10.
