Gutted Christ are a band from Virginia that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Hail And Kill" which was released by CDN Records.
A very ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album along with some whispers and epic sounding keyboards before going into a very fast and brutal direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats. Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and the vocals are mostly death metal growls and a few black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the songs also add in a good mixture of old school and modern influences. Horror movie samples can also be heard in certain sections of the album along with a couple of tracks also adding in session work form embers of Serpentshrine and Gutted Alive, all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and when guitar solos and leads are finally introduced into the music they are also done in a very dark style.
Gutted Christ plays a style of blackened death metal that is very aggressive and brutal sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Anti Christianity, Death, Hatred and Violence themes.
In my opinion Gutted Christ are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blasphecross" "In The Coils Ov Death" and "Spawns Ov Perdition". 8 out of 10.
