Misanthropik Torment are a duo form Kentucky that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "ECDYSIS" which was released by Misanthropik Records.
A very heavy and brutal sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of tremolo picking and blast b eats. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very old school extreme metal style and one song also adds in a brief use of clean playing and spoken word parts.
On this recording Misanthropik Torment remains true to the blackened death metal style that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover political greed, anti religion and human decay themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Misanthropik Torment and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Master And Slave" "False Prophet" and "Karmic Retribution". 8 out of 10.
