This is a review of a split album between U.S.A's Void Blight and Filtheater called "Embrace Decay" which was released by Malevolent Sound and we will start off the review with Void Blight a band that plays a blackened form of death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark yet heavy sound while the riffs also get very dissonant sounding at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of brutal blast beats can be heard along with the vocals being mostly cavernous death metal growls and the songs also add in touches of black metal
All of the musical instruments on their side of the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with some elements of doom/death metal being added into the slower sections of the songs at times. The tracks also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark style and electronic sounds can also be heard briefly.
Void Blight plays a style of blackened death metal that is very dissonant sounding as well as adding in a touch of doom/death metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness, death, horror and gore themes.
In my opinion Void Blight are a very great sounding dissonant blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hellspawns" and "Plagues From The Cosmos".
Next up is Fultheater a solo project that plays an old school form of death metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark and brutal sound that is very heavily rooted in t he 90's era. Blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs at times while the vocals are mostly deep sounding death metal growls and touches of doom/death metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the tracks.
High pitched screams can also be heard at times while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats. Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with some tremolo picking also being added into some of the faster riffing and when guitar leads are finally utilized they also remain true to an old school style.
Fultheater plays a style of death metal that is very heavily rooted in the early 90's era. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover death, horror and darkness themes.
In my opinion Filtheater are a very great sounding old school death metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Arcane Conjurations" and "Glinting Upheaval".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of black and death metal. 8 out of 10.
