Atomic Cretans are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a mixture of black, thrash metal and punk and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Spiritual Cancer" which was released by Suicide Bong Tapes.
Movie samples stat off the ep before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while the riffs also add in elements of thrash metal.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the riffing along with the solos and leads bringing in a very melodic yet old school style. Vocals are mostly black metal screams that are influenced by both the first and second waves of the genre as well as the music also mixing in elements of speed metal, d beat and punk, throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Atomic Cretans plays a musical style that takes black, thrash, speed metal, d beat and punk rock and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover satanism, horror, anti religion, and anti government themes.
In my opinion Atomic Cretans are a very great sounding mixture of black, thrash metal and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Satans Hounds" and "Spiritual Cancer". 8 out of 10.
