Heksebrann are a band from Germany that plays a blackened form of heavy metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 album "Spiritual Descending".
Dark sounding keyboards start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while the music also mixes in elements of thrash and traditional metal. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very old school style along with the vocals being mostly blackened metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while death metal growls can also be heard in certain sections of the recording. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with some clean playing also being utilized at times,.
The music also takes a lot of 80's influences and mixes them with a more modern style as well as adding in a decent amount of black'n'roll touches and as the album progresses a brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts can also be heard and the keyboards also make a brief return before returning back to a heavier musical direction and tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Darkness, occultism and Witchcraft themes.
In my opinion Heksebrann are a very great sounding blackened heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Well Of Creation" "Spiritual Descending" "A Witch Promised Truth" and "Ignite The Fire". 8 out of 10.
