Skeleton are a band from Austin, Texas that plays a blackened mixture of metal and punk and this is a review of their self titled 2020 album which will be released in July by 20 Buck Spin.
A very fast black metal influenced sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly blackened screams while elements of punk are also also added into the mid tempo sections of the songs as well as some d beats also being utilized at times.
The music also adds in a decent amount of 80's and 90's influences while also keeping it very modern at the same time. Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as a decent portion of the songs being short in length, when guitar leads are utilized they also remain true to an old school style and clean playing can also be heard on the closing track.
Skeleton plays a musical style that takes black metal and hardcore punk and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Skeleton are a very great sounding mixture of black metal and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Skeleton" "Ring Of Fire" "Taste of Blood" and "Catacombs". 8 out of 10.
