Proscription are a band from Finland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Desolate Divine" which will be released in August by Dark Descent Records.
A very heavy and brutal sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams along with one track also adding in a brief use of spoken words and the solos and leads are done in a very chaotic style.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also add in a small amount of melody. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some tremolo picking also being added into the faster riffing at times as well as some of the tracks also being long and epic in length and one song is an instrumental and adds in a brief use of synths.
On this recording Proscription brings out a very brutal and aggressive style of blackened death metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Anti Christianity and Dark Spirituality themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Proscription and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gleam Of The Morningstar" "The Midnight God" and "The Great Deceiver". 8 out of 10.
