Concilivm/The Veiled Engima/Dawning Septic Productions/2019 EP Review

  Concilivm  are  a  band  from  Chile  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  ep  "The  Veiled  Engima"  which  will  be  released  on  May  31st  by  Dawning  Septic  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  brief  use  of  chants  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  A  great  amount  of  90's  influences  can  also  be  heard  in  the  bands  musical  style  while t he  faster  sections  of  the  music  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  yet  cavernous  death  metal  growls.  A  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Black  metal  screams  are  also  used  in  some  part  of  the  music  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  also  being  influenced  by  the  previous  mentioned  genre  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Coccilivm  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dark  Zenith"  and  "Ars  Magna".  8  out  of  10.
