Evil Angel are a band from Finland that plays a mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Unholy Evil Metal" which will be released on May 31st by Hells Headbangers.
A very heavy and old school thrash metal influenced sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim black metal groups and the music also takes influences from both the first and second wave eras of t he genre.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain to an old school style of extreme metal and while the music is heavily rooted in the 80's and early 90's it still captures a modern day brutality. A touch of death metal can also be heard in some of the riffing along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them and all of the music sticks to a very heavy and aggressive direction. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism, Rituals, Necromancy, Apocalyptic and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion Evil Angel are a very great sounding mixture of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Necro Black Mass" "Nuclear Hammer" "Bestial Necromancer" and "Ritual Sacrifice". 8/5 out of 10.
