Mourner are a band from Minnesota that plays a blackened form of crustcore and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "Lifeless Eyes".
The ep starts off with some clean guitar playing and then the heavy guitars kick in and the music goes into a more dark direction and then hardcore style screams are added into the music and then the mixing starts mixing clean and heavy parts together which also leads to more fast and crust elements being added into the music.
As the ep moves on powerful sounding bass guitars are added into the music and by the 3rd song clean guitars are added back into the music which add in elements of post hardcore and one of the main strengths this ep possesses is the bands ability to put a blackened touch to crust and hardcore.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound for being a self released recording and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this ep.
In my opinion Mourner are a very great sounding blackened mixture of crust and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Darkness & Ice" and "Whispering". RECOMMENDED BUY.
