Atlantean Sorrow are a solo project from Lima, Ohio that plays a very progressive, atmospheric and sci-fi themed mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "2020" which was released by Sinistrari Records.
Sci-fi samples and spoken word parts start off the album as well as returning on the later songs before going into more of a heavier and atmospheric musical direction. Synths are also a very huge part of the recording while the music also gets very progressive sounding at times and a lot of the music is heavily rooted in the 90's era.
All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody as well as the music also adding in elements of black, death and thrash metal, most of the songs stick and an instrumental style and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Atlantean Sorrow plays a musical style that takes 90's era atmospheric black metal and mixes it with death, thrash and progressive metal as well as mixing in sci-fi orientated synths to create a sound of his own while the production also sounds very professional.
In my opinion Atlantean Sorrow are a very great sounding atmospheric, progressive and sci-fi themed mixture of black, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trest Pilot" and "Project Cyborg". 8 out of 10.
