Wolvennest/The Dark Path To The Light/Van Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Wolvennest  are  a  band  from  Belgium  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  doom  metal  and  psychedelic  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "The  Path  To  The  Light"  which  was  released  by  Van  Records.

  Horror movie  style  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of the  songs  at  times.  When  spoken  word  parts  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling  while  some  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  clear  vocals  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  60's  psychedelic  rock  vibe  while  the  whispered  and  more  aggressive  vocals  also  bring  in  elements  of  black  metal.  Melodies  are  also added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  showing  an  influence  of  doom  metal  as  well  as  the  album  also  having  its  experimental  moments,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  introduced  on  the  album  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  

  Wolvennest  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  doom  metal,  experimental  and  psychedelic  rock  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism  and  ritualistic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Wolvennest  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  mixture  of  black,  doom  metal  and  psychedelic  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Adversaries"  and  "The  Dark  path  To  The  Light".  8  out  of  10.
