Nifelheim/Devil's Force/Necropolis Records/1998 CD Review

Nifelheim are a band from Sweden that has been around for more than 20's that have a music style that I would describe as a form of black metal mixed with death/thrash and this is a review of their classic 1998 album "Devil's Force" which was released by Necropolis Records during the tear of 1998.

Drums are very fast with a lot of brutal blast beats while the bass playing has a very powerful sound with a lot of fast riffs that sound all evil and necro.

Rhythm guitars are very fast riffs that mix some of the classic underground 80's death thrash in the Brazilian / Eastern European vein with the early 90's Swedish black metal sound while the lead guitars are very noisy with a heavy dose of chaos as well as melody.

Vocals are high pitched screams that seem to be both influenced by black metal as well as thrash metal with some occasional deep death metal growls, while the lyrics cover a very primitive form of Satanism that kind of has a horror movie feel, as for the production on this album which was recorded during the month of November 1997 at Maestro Musik, in Gothenburg, Sweden sounds very raw but retaining a professional sound.

In my opinion this was a classic album from Nifelheim and if you are a fan of death thrash influenced black metal you need to get this album for your collection, and even today this band is still highly respected by black metal fans worldwide. STANDOUT TRACKS INCLUDE "Deathstrike From Hell" "Deminic Evil" and "Devil's Force". RECOMMENDED BUY.
