1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
A1. As of right after the release, we planned a tour to push out our album, sadly Covid-19 came and delayed our plans. Since the pandemic doesn't seem to be going away soon we decided to postpone the tour and start working on our second album, which is what we are doing today.
2.In August you had released a new album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
A2. The album is a mixture of a number of styles mainly black metal and death metal but some othermusical influences too. The album is a collection of songs Dani White our other guitarist and I wroteduring different eras of our lives, some songs are 10 years old and some are less than 1 year old, so each song reflects the feel and influences of different times in our lives.
3.Some of your lyrics cover Occultism themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this subject?
A3. I was always interested in the occult, since I was a child. I’ve read a lot of books about those subjects and I was always drawn to the darker side of life, my mind wanders into those realms of thought and I like to act on some of those dark desires, so it comes out in some of our lyrics.
4.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
A4. Other than the occult, we write lyrics about other things that plague our personal lives, such asocial behaviours and social norms of this world, political views, religious topics and ideas that we disagree with, basically, everything that occupies our minds.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Zed Destructive'?
A5. Zed ( זד ) in Biblical Hebrew is “Malice”, “Evil”or “Evil Intention”So the idea or figure behind the name is a malicious demon from hell that comes to bring ruin upon a cursed world.
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
A6. The artwork is taken directly from the lyrics of the 10th track of the album “Eternal Damnation” showing a group of occultists in a hellish realm, performing a summoning ritual.
7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
A7. I can remember some good shows in Israel, mainly in Tel Aviv and Haifa, wild crowds and some really good opening acts. One of those shows was with Arallu, it was their album release tour called En Olam, a great show with good production and professional crew. We had a lot of fun with the guys back-stage and met with people outside the venue. As for describing our performance, we perform for the crowd and we give our best on stage, we change songs from show to show to make sure it’s interesting every time you come to see us. I would describe our shows as a pure massacre, at least it looks like this from up on the stage hahaha.
8.On the album you also did a 'Deicide' cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?
A8. Dani White and I have grown listening to Deicide, they’ve influenced me and my musical taste so Idecided to make a tribute to them by covering one of my favourite songs.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
A9. Most, if not all of the feedbacks we received were overwhelmingly positive, we’ve been featured on many radio stations, podcasts and streams. Many metal fans from social platforms such as reddit and facebook are reaching us and telling us they love what we do, our bassist even got a reaction from Paolo Gregoletto, bassist of Trivium, and he liked it which was awesome! seeing someone on his level shining a spotlight on us is not taken for granted.
10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
A10. Currently Winterhorde which I am a vocalist for, is working on a new album, hopefully it comes out in fall 2021. Daniel Kitchka, our bassist, spends some of his time with a small band in his area during the quarantine, mainly to pass the time. I am not really sure what their plans are. Ariel Lior, our drummer, is working on a new album with his band “Nothing Lies Beyond”, not sure when it comes out though.
11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
A11. Judging by our new material the band is definitely going towards more of a cohesive sound for the next album. Every band member brings his influences, for the first time it's a teamwork unlike our first album that only me and Dani White.
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
A12. Mainly old-school death and old-school black metal bands like “Deicide”, “Death”, “Morbid Angel”, “Emperor”, “Mayhem”, “Marduk”, etc. Dani White and I are coming from the same musical taste I listed above, this is what we’re listening to nowadays as well. Daniel Kitchka is listening to melodic death metal, metalcore and doom metal, bands such as “Dark Tranquility” and “Katatonia” Ariel Lior is into melodeath and metalcore as well.
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
A13. It’s good to have been featured on your magazine with such an interesting interview. We hope that this Covid shit goes away soon so we all could return to our lives, we really miss the concerts and the crowd interactions from stage.
