1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new ep?
A1. Since the EP was mastered, We've played gigs across the Northwest. We've played our first international support - Malevolent Creation in Manchester, and our first festival - Darkness Over Cumbria. We reached the finals of the Metal 2 the Masses (band comp that feeds into the Bloodstock festival) but got pipped at the post. We've also been getting material ready for our upcoming album - guitars and drums are pretty much there, vocals and bass are about half way.
So, We've been keeping busy!
2.You have a new ep coming out towards the end of the year, musically how does it differ from your previous full length?
A2. Full length, not EP thank you very much! (Pretends to be insulted).
It's looking more like early next year for mixing/mastering, to be honest. It's a development of the sound on the first album. The core brutality is still there, but the arrangements are a bit more sophisticated, the bass parts more intricate etc.
The most obvious difference is the vocals - more old-school death metal, punchy, deep and nasty.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
A3. Well, it's pretty dark music, so the lyrics match. Cruelty, torture, soul crushing inhumanity, industrialised madness.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'OmegaThrone'?
A4. Weirdly enough, from Megatron, the bad guy from Transformers!
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new ep cover?
A5. The art was produced by a very talented guy from SE Asia - we wanted it monochrome, stark and striking.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
A6. One of the best so far was the Malevolent Creation support - fun line up, crowd appreciation, big stage to play with. Lots of fun.
On stage we try to match the energy and intensity of the music. If you're not going to get into your own music, why should anyone else?
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for 2023?
A7. We've got a few things pencilled in for early in the new year, but nothing's set in stone yet.
8.Currently the band is looking for a label, what kind of label do you feel would be a perfect fit for the musical style that you play?
A8. It's the old story - how do you get your music out there and noticed? If a label can get us to a wider national and international audience, excellent. Obviously, we'd need stablemates of a similar style/sound - no point being the sole black/death band on a vegan grindcore label. At the moment, our following has mainly been driven by live performances, but we'd love to move beyond that to a wider audience.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
A9. We've had a few international reviews for the EP, which has been really positive.
10Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
A10. Musically, it's going to be interesting going forward - the main songwriting so far has been driven by the guitarist and drummer, but future tracks will be more collaborative now that we have a settled and focused line-up. It'll still be fast, intense and nasty, but who knows? Maybe more twisted harmonies? More volume dynamics? More atmospheric, with some keys/samples? More groove? Maybe all of the above.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?
A11. Actually we have stuck in 80's and 90's when it comes to metal. We try to avoid the modern music because of loudness standards these days. We are not into overproduced crap.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
A12. We are doing just great. Just started giging one year ago. We don't have many followers but it is organic. You can spot people wearing our tees almost on every gig we play. We just do small steps forward thats our idea and strategy.
